Van der Glas and Majestic Percussion sponsor Euro Brass Drachten the next 3 years

Percussion factory Majestic in combination with Van der Glas musical instruments and Euro Brass Drachten have signed a sponsor contract.

Majestic as well as Van der Glas have been involved in the former editions of this international festival for brass bands. Majestic will be providing the percussion instruments for the next 3 years to be used by the participating bands.  Top quality instruments are thus guaranteed!

For more than a decade, Euro Brass Drachten provides a stage for brass bands that want to compete in an international field of participants. Still popular by both brass bands and audience, the festival consolidates it's reputation by closing this deal.

Adjudicators for Euro Brass Drachten

Again Euro Brass Drachten will be adjudicated by an international adjudicators panel. Besides Luuk Tuinstra and Rob Goorhuis (both Dutch), Steve Sykes and Phillip McCann will be adjudicating.

Brass band Euterpe (Belgium) cancels participation

Brass band Euterpe (Belgium) cancels their participation in the Euro Brass Drachten contest of June this year. There will be no replacing band.

Euro Brass Drachten 2012 draws very interesting participants

The 11^th edition of Euro Brass Drachten promises to become a true spectacle. Excellent bands from three countries will play on June 8^th and 9^th in Drachten.

Big eye-catcher in Group A is current national champion Brass Band Schoonhoven. The band will also perform at the European Brass Band Championship in May this year, but will also defend last year's title. Also present: last year's runner up in Group A, De Bazuin from Oenkerk. They didn't play at the National Championships because of an incomplete band, but will play on Euro Brass Drachten.

Group B holds 2 foreign bands. From Norway Brøttum Brass Band and the national champion (1^st section) of Belgium, brass band Leieland. They will compete against last year's winner and 1^st section national champion Oefening en Uitspanning from Wijk en Aalburg.

The last foreign participant is Group C. In this group the Belgian brass band Euterpe from Merchtem will compete against last year's winner en current Dutch national champion in the 3^rd section Constantijn Huygens from Appingedam.

For every group a set piece has been chosen. The A-Group will play Peter Meechan's Lament, the B-Group Philip Sparke's arrangement of David of the White Rock. The bands in the C-Group will play The Turtle Dove in an arrangement by Etienne Crausaz.

Euro Brass Drachten invites bands to apply for 2012

After a very successful 10^th anniversary-edition of the fast growing Euro Brass Drachten competition, the organizers already started the preparations for the next festival.

Because of the many positive reactions the organizers decided to divide the Championship Section in 2012 again over two days. On the 8^th and 9^th of June this popular festival will be held in De Lawei at Drachten.

The latest news about Euro Brass Drachten

On the 3th and 4th of June 2011, De Lawei Concert Hall in Drachten (the Netherlands) will host the 10th edition of the International Euro Brass Contest. The contest attracted the record of 23 bands from 5 different countries to Drachten.

This year the best bands in all three groups will be rewarded with very interesting prizes. The winner in the A-group receives a cheque to the value of €2000,- and a concert with a Yamaha-artist, presented by the biggest sponsor Yamaha.
Bands in the B-group will make competition for a cheque to the value of €750,- and a concert or workshop with Simone Rebello. And at last the winner in the C-group will be rewarded with a concert with the well known trumpeter Wim van Hasselt and also a cheque.
These prizes are not the last ones that Euro Brass Drachten will give away.  There will be a big number of  extra prizes for all the bands that are competing.

New this year is the life stream on www.oproplive.nl  that will make it possible for the people at home to follow the event online.
